It's been raining all week.

The garden is laced like cat's cradle with overcrowded spinach sprouts and ruts from a gutterless roof. Everyone's been headshaking about planting a garden so early in Vermont but so far so good.

I forget to remember that the broccoli I pick up on sale from Hannaford's took three months from seed to grow. This whole disconnectedness from earth to mouth.

I just forget.
